What is CAT?

The Common Admission Test or CAT is an exam which is started by the IIMs to select the students for their business administration programs. The exam is conducted by the one IIMs faculty every year which is based on the rotation policy. This year the exam will be conducted by IIM Kozhikode. However, apart from Institutes of Management (IIMs), there are numbers of B-School in India, but every CAT appearing candidate aims to take admission at IIM, just like a JEE appearing student aims to be a part of IIT.

Exam Pattern

Further talking about CAT exam pattern, it is an online exam of 3 hours which includes the questions based on Quantitative Ability (QA), Data Interpretation (DI) Verbal Ability (VA) & Reading Comprehension (RC), and Logical Reasoning (LR). The paper will be of 300 marks and you will get 3 marks for every correct answer while for every wrong answer you will lose 1 mark. The negative marking is only for the MCQs. The exam held once a year to select the students for business studies.

 

Some Important Updates Related to the CAT 2019:

Registration starts on 7th August 2019

Last registration date: 25th September 2019

Admit card release date: 23rd October 2019.

CAT tutorial release date: 16th October 2019

CAT Exam Date: 24th November 2019.

Result date: 6th January 2020

 

Eligibility to appear CAT

There are few things which are mandatory to appear in CAT. The students need to fulfill all the requirement of the authority to be eligible for the exam.

  • Bachelor’s Degree is must with 50% marks for General Category and SC, ST, PWD and differently able candidates needs 45% to sit the exam.
  • The degree will be accepted if it is granted by the genuine university.
  • No Age limit is decided for the Exam.

Guidelines for the Exam day

As we all know the exam day is the most hectic. Sometimes we don’t understand what to do and how to manage all the things and stuff. Here are some of the effective guidelines which will be proved very helpful for you during the exam day. Check Out:

  • Put your Admit Card in your bag on the previous day of the exam. If in case you will forget it, then you are not going to allow entering the exam center.
  • As like admit card is important, your identity card is also one of the most important documents which are compulsory to take in the exam hall.
  • If you have changed your name for any reason then carry your Changing name documents for proof.
  • Some items which are prohibited to take inside the exam hall. Some of them are Calculator, watch, mobile phones, electric items, Purse, wallets, Food items, jewelry, accessories, closed footwear, no pocket clothes. Now some authorities have made the exam rules of wearing lower and t-shirt during exams to avoid the cheating methods.
